The Indian Restaurant on Halsted — Urban Turban, Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park finally has an Indian kitchen that isn't an afterthought. Urban Turban sits at 2660 N. Halsted St. between Diversey and Wrightwood — close enough to DePaul to be a student regular, comfortable enough for a proper sit-down dinner. The menu is North Indian dhaba food cooked to order: paneer tikka out of the tandoor, seekh kebabs off the skewer, biryani sealed and steamed per pot.

It's an easy neighbourhood stop — order online on the walk over and your pickup is bagged when you arrive, or take a table and let the kitchen pace the meal. Under the same roof you'll also find Urban Halwai's fresh mithai and Urban Bakery's eggless cakes, so dessert is a counter away.
