Fresh Indian Sweets in Chicago — Urban Halwai, Lincoln Park

Urban Halwai is a working halwai counter inside our Lincoln Park home at 2660 N. Halsted St. — not a case of week-old imports. Kaju katli sheeted and cut in-house, gulab jamun soaked warm in syrup, jalebi fried in small batches, and soft ras malai chilled the same day. If you grew up on Karachi Sweets or Bengali mithai shops, this is that craft, in Chicago.

We box mithai for Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, Eid and weddings — assorted boxes by the pound, with sugar-free kaju katli and dry-fruit laddoo for the health-conscious side of the family. Order online for pickup on Halsted between 2 and 11 PM daily; Lakeview and Old Town are minutes away.
